About me
I am a dedicated and committed Psychologist bringing more than over 25 years’ of experience working as a health professional. I have come to understand that the human person is neither simple nor neat. With that in mind, I work as an integrative practitioner with experience of CBT, including third wave CBT, Mindfulness techniques and Psychodynamic models and utilise the various frameworks to suit the long term and short term needs of the individual. Delivering a warm and compassionate approach I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship as a platform for change and the beginning of a more satisfying and authentic experience.
I have extensive experience in working with adults with Depression, Anxiety, Stress & PTSD, I further specialise in Attachments & Relationships. I have spent the past several years working with Fertility and women and couples affected by this. I have a special interest in the Psychology of Health, Psychosomatic Medicine, and Autoimmune Disorders.
I have a special website dedicated to my work around fertility; conceivingconception.com
My background
My passion for psychology began when I became interested in the psychology of health, having worked as a Nurse for several years.
I began working with behavioural patterns and relational dynamics to gain insight into individuals and what motivates their desires and intentions. This begun my journey towards obtaining a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. As such, I have extensive experience in supporting adults with health-related issues-including coping with infertility, cancer, bereavement, anxiety and depression, occupational challenges and supporting emotional and behavioural disorders.
I have a natural ability to engage, empathise, and ground patients, this allows me to build and maintain lasting relationships.
Training, qualifications & experience
I completed my first degree in Health & Human Sciences in 1994, followed by an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Liverpool University in 2004. I then completed my Masters degree in Health Psychology at Liverpool John Moores University prior to undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at the University of East London.
